NY Giants Rush: Monday Morning Manning – Week 8

By: Marco Imperati

This was one of the wildest games played in a long time. It almost felt like the game was being controlled by two teenagers playing Madden. Something about playing in the Superdome down in New Orleans never sits well with me, and I’m sure most Giants fans would agree. The Giants lost 52-49 on a last second field goal by Kai Forbath.

Not to be overshadowed by Drew Brees’ 7 touchdowns, Eli Manning returned to his home state of Louisiana and did not disappoint. Manning completed 30-41 passes, for 351 yards, 6 touchdowns, and no turnovers. Three of those touchdowns went to Odell Beckham Jr.

Some day when Manning retires, this is a game that you could go back and see what vintage Eli was all about. Manning was brilliant. Completing plays on 4th down, making throws with defenders hanging on him, scrambling to his right and throwing a touchdown to his left.

Going forward, one area of huge concern is the tight end. This team has slowly lost most of the tight ends on this team. Currently, rookie Will Tye is the only healthy tight end on the team. I like the toughness of the wide receivers, especially Dwayne Harris, who scored two touchdowns in the second half while being nicked up with ankle and knee injuries.

Up next: The Giants will travel to Tampa Bay and battle a tricky 3-4 Buccaneers team. This will be a tough game for the Giants. Tampa beat the Atlanta Falcons this week and gave up a 24 point lead to the Redskins last week. The NY Giants defense will have their hands full with Doug Martin and Mike Evans.

Look for Tight End Austin Seferian-Jenkins to return after missing five games and try to have a big game against a defense that has given up a ton of yards and points to tight ends this year.
