First Antrel Rolle and now Zack Bowman.  One of the few bright spots in the defensive backfield for the New York Giants last season was corner back Zack Bowman.   He is now a Miami Dolphin.

What continues to be a mind numbing off-season for the Giants will only spell disaster as the back-end of the Giants defensive gets thinner and thinner.  One could only guess that the mantra of “playoff or bust” was some sort of April fools joke because competing will be tough for the Giants.

Why?  The horses just aren’t there.  Once what was deep and productive squad for the Giants is now nothing but an after thought.

Safety Stevie Brown who remains unsigned is still recovering from off-season foot surgery, which would imply the Giants are waiting to see how has healed to warrant a 1 year deal. However, is he the answer?   Three years ago the guy had 8 interceptions.   Since then he has torn up his knee and foot.

Prince Amukamara who is good corner is recovering from injury and DRC is not getting any younger.  But wait…the Giants have Chykie Brown the 5th round pick from the Ravens in 2011. The special teamer has not played safety since high school but looks to compete for the starting job.

The team currently has 2 safeties(Taylor and Berhe) and 10 corners.   One of those corners who is Jayron Hosley can’t play on the NFL level at 175 pounds.

If Jerry Reese and Tom Coughlin are planning on competing this year the 2015 NFL draft may have to be defensive players top to bottom.   The current talent pool at defensive backfield is thin.  While the depth and experience level is at rock bottom…don’t expect the average puss rush to help out this inexperienced bunch of players.
