The New York Giants could use the talents of Brian “Spidey” Burns. The franchize has an uphill battle in rebuilding their depleted defense. And one of the most important factors to being a good fit is personality and the mental part of the game. Brian Burns fits the model.

If Florida State Defensive End, Brian Burns is on the board the New York Giants should give the Florida homegrown product a new address.

Burns has a great attitude toward the game and his success has been well documented on the field. He led the Seminoles in 2018 his with 15.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks while also breaking up three passes and forcing three fumbles.

He is a rangy player at 6’5″ 260 lbs. with a great number of moves that leave Offensive Tackles wishing they had done some extra film work on Burns.

If you are looking for a comparison to a former New York Giants player I would say he is a cross between a young Carl Banks who can drop in space and rush the passer with an Osi Umenyiora flare. He has great footwork and slides into gaps very quickly. His long rangy frame will deliver many forced fumbles by the quarterback at the top of the rush.

Burns has exceptional “bend” in his frame and his signature “spin” move can be executed with inside or outside leverage, very similar to Von Miller.
Burns is also no stranger to the NFL as his brother, Stanley McClover, was a 7th round pick by the Panthers back in 2006.

He is on record saying he put on “19 or 20” pounds in the offseason and still moved through the drills at the scouting combine with speed and agility. Burns is more than just a pass rusher as he racked up 123 tackles with 38.5 tackles for a loss and 23 sacks at Florida State.

His nickname is “Spidey”. If there was ever a time that New York sports needed a superhero…it’s now. GM Dave Gettleman and The New York Giants should draft Brian “Spidey” Burns at #17.
