Something feels distinctly different during this Free Agency run for the New York Giants…like there picking up the trash.

In the past years under Jerry Reese, The Giants have been very consistent   They get their man and then continue to look for smaller pieces that will fit the “Big Blue” puzzle.   The Giants brass have made a science out of flying below the radar and that philosophy brought them…Bennett, Baas, Rolle, Weatherford, Kawika Mitchell & Antonio Pierce.

It’s just a feeling, but thus far the New York Giants have been picking up other teams junk.

Is Dan Connor that much better than Chase Blackburn?

Chase Blackburn

Is Ryan Mundy a real back up safety?

Is Louis Murphy more versatile than Domenik Hixon?

Aaron Ross…really?

Is Josh Brown more accurate than Tynes?

Chase Blackburn – The lunch pale warrior can play outside and inside linebacker.  He can call the all the signals and no one on the New York Giants hits more moving bodies on special teams than Chase Blackburn when he’s out there.

Everyone knows that linebacker needs to be on the Giants radar, yet the Giants need an upgrade and Dan Connor is not the answer.

Dan Connor is a natural middle linebacker and a very good down hill tackler but lacks the speed or vertical leverage to be a sideline to sideline difference maker.  The former Dallas Cowboy linebacker has been cut by two teams in 5 years and brings nothing to the table that Chase Blackburn does not.

Domenik Hixon – No. 87 makes the big catch, he returns kicks and he’s battled back from two back to back knee injuries.   The Giants are vested in this kid…I just don’t get why they would need free agent wide receiver Louis Murphy.   Have they lost faith in former 3rd round pick Jerrel Jernigan already?

And for any reason this is the Giants answer to Victor Cruz, and I hope it isn’t, but if it is…I will have lost all faith in Jerry Reese.

Ryan Mundy is an average  safety who will play special teams but will never compete for a starting spot and if former Giants corner back, Terrell Thomas moves to safety, Ryan Mundy is nothing but insurance if Thomas doesn’t make it.   Does this signing mean the end for Tyler Sash?

Aaron Ross – Didn’t the Giants severe ties with him two years ago primary because he lost his starting spot and frankly could cover anyway.

Josh Brown – I am at a loss here.  Chalk this one up to money.  Thank you Lawrence Tynes…the fans will not forget.
