One year ago New York Giants fans were pounding their chests in celebration of an unexpected, yet thrilling ride to a Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots.  Fans flocked to local stores to purchase every stitch of apparel with an NY Giants logo on it printed in red and blue.

“Should Bradshaw have scored?” was the raging debate.

A high five, a fist pound and a…GMEN! chant rose from every corner of the metro area.   From North Jersey through Manhattan to Albany, from the jersey shore to Staten Island and right on down the New Jersey Turnpike Giants fans celebrated!

Just one year later Big Blue fans are deflated and discouraged by the recent release of Ahmad Bradshaw, Michael Boley & Chris Canty.  Like most New York Giants fans these latest moves come as a surprise,  yet everyone understand the NFL is a business and the salary cap is a real live animal that in the end…no one escapes from.

No.44 will be forever remembered as the unknown 7th round draft pick that burst on the scene during a “must win” Sunday against the Buffalo Bills in 2007.   The return to Buffalo was anything but pleasant as the sky dropped rain, sleet and snow as 30 miles per hour winds ripped through Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Ahmad Bradshaw made the most of his opportunities as he ripped off 151 yards on 17 carries, highlighted by an amazing 88 yard touchdown run.

While Michael Boley and Chris Canty were vastly over paid, one might think that Ahmad Bradshaw would restructure to remain a New York Giant.   He was one of the toughest running backs to ever wear the blue and red and defined what New York Giant football was about.  Last years first round draft pick, David Wilson does not appear ready for 23 carries a game and his blocking skills are terrible.

Jerry Reese will not be second guessed purely because Steve Smith, Brandon Jacobs, Kevin Boss, Keith Bullock, Aaron Ross and DJ Ware have not made an impact anywhere else in the NFL after leaving the Giants; however, if this is JUST business…fans are expecting Corey Webster(owed $7 million), Kenny Phillips, Rocky Bernard, Marvin Austin, David Diehl, Travis Beckum and Ramses Barden to be released immediately.

If the New York Giants are not rebuilding, one would expect the brass of the New York Giants to be a big player in free agency and swiftly sign Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks.
