Can the Giants find the next Victor Cruz?

With the questionable health status of Victor Cruz and the impending free agency of Ruben Randle, the New York Giants made steps to bring in reinforcements at the wide receiver position but came up short again.

Big Blue brought in Calgary Stampeders‘ wide out Eric Rogers for a workout. The 6’3″ 195 lbs former Grey Cup champion had 87 catches for 1,448 yards and 10 touchdowns last season for Calgary, earning him CFL West All-Star and CFL League All-Star honors. In 2014, Rogers posted 73 receptions for 903 yards and 27 scores through nine games with the Portland Thunder of the Arena Football League.

The 24-year-old could have been an exceptional red zone compliment to the Giants’ passing attack; however the 49ers signed the CFL star to a 2-year deal with a $125K signing bonus, $75K in bonuses & $100K base salary guaranteed.

While Rogers may have contributed to the Giants and helped Eli Manning have more depth on the offensive side of the ball, the Giants need to stop looking for the next diamond in the rough.  Go out and secure Eli Manning a quality receiver with the 45+ million dollar cap room they have this off-season.

Something has to change and someone needs to step up, Jerry Reese included.

The Giants also worked out former Tampa Bay Buccaneer defensive tackle Euclid Cummings and former Miami Dolphins running back Cameron Marshall.
