In this highly unlikely, unrealistic mock draft, I have GM Dave Gettleman doing the impossible! I have him trading back in the 1st round and making another big trade for additional picks.  In this scenario, everything falls into place for Gettleman. Two big moves and give the Giants the best possible chance to add more talent to the roster. The likelihood of this scenario playing out is probably less than 5%. Let’s take a look at this way too early, highly unlikely mock draft:

*************TRADE ALERT****************

The New York Giants trade their 11th overall pick to the Chicago Bears for their 2021 1st (#20), 2nd rounder (#52) and a 2022 4th round conditional pick.

1st Round (#20)

Rashod Bateman: WR-Minnesota-6’2/210: Bateman has size, speed , great hands in traffic and has one of the best YAC (yards after catch) in college football.

2nd Round (#42)

Pat Freiermuth: TE-Notre Dame-6’5/260: Freiermuth falls into the Giants lap in the 2nd and will remind Giant fans of Bavaro and Shockey all rolled into one.

2nd Round (#52) (Via trade with the Chicago Bears)

Ifeatu Melifonwu: CB-Syracuse-6’3/213: Melifonwu is a big body, physical CB who has the speed and agility to cover smaller wide outs.

3rd Round (#76)

Rashad Weaver: Edge-Pittsburgh-6’5/270: Weaver gives the Giants much needed pass rushing ability to go along with solid run support.

*****The New York Giants trade tight end Evan Engram to the Jacksonville Jaguars for their 2021 4th round pick (#97) and a conditional 6th round pick in the 2022 NFL draft*****

4th Round (#97) from Jacksonville

Jackson Carman: OT-Clemson-6’5/340: Carman brings nastiness to the Giants as a solid run blocker and pass protector. Carman can play both OT and OG positions and could compete for a starting spot in 2022.

4th Round (#107)

Tutu Atwell: WR-Lousivlle-5’9/160: Atwell is arguably one of fastest WR in this draft, posting an impressive 4.28. Small in stature, Atwell is extremely elusive and creates separation after the catch.

************The Giants forfeited their 5th Round pick when they acquired DL Leonard Williams in a trade from the New York Jets************

6th Round (#172)

Tedarrell Slaton: DT-Florida-6’5/358: Giants could move on from Dalvin Tomlinson and find his replacement in mammoth DT Tedarrell Slaton.

6th Round (#177) (Trade w/ Cardinals for Markus Golden)

Elijah Mitchell: RB-Louisiana-5’11/221: It’s still unclear if the Giants re-sign Wayne Gallman, regardless they use their last pick on a versatile running back in Elijah Mitchell who can move the chains in both the running and passing game.

*****Traded 7th Round pick for CB Isaac Yiadom (Denver Broncos)*****

The likelihood of Gettleman trading back is unlikely. I believe the possibility of trading Evan Engram is under consideration. If the draft falls perfectly into place perhaps trading back in the 1st round isn’t an impossible scenario after all. Keep an eye out for my more realistic 1st edition mock draft coming soon.
