Introduction: The New York Giants pulled off a stunning victory over the Dallas Cowboys 23-19 in a game that could place them in the playoffs if the Washington loses to the Eagles on Sunday night. The Giants looked more like the 1986 team in the 1st half jumping out to a 20-9 lead into halftime. Quarterback Daniel Jones finished with a line of 17/25 for 229 yards with 2 touchdowns and one interception which wasn’t his fault. The Giants finished with a 6-10 record and if Washington loses tonight against Philadelphia, they will host their 1st playoff game at home since 2011. Here are my top 3 reasons why the Giants won:

  • Pass Rush Awakens: The Giants pass came through with arguably their best performance of the season with 6 sacks on the day. Dallas Quarterback Andy Dalton was under extreme pressure even when he wasn’t sacked led by Leonard Williams who had half of team’s sack total with 3.
  • Danny Dimes Delivers: Daniel Jones looked at full strength as his throws were crisped and when he needed to; his recent injuries showed no side effects when he needed to use his legs to escape the pocket.

Final Thoughts: The Giants are now sitting with the 11th pick in the 2021 draft; which could change with the outcome of the Washington-Philadelphia game and the other late afternoon games still being played. If Washington loses, the Giants will hold the 19th pick before the start of the playoffs. If Washington wins, the Giants could finish either with the 11th or 12th pick; depending on what the Chargers do in their final game.
