Eagles release Guard Evan Mathis: Lineman could give Giants options

by Craig J. Santucci | Managing Editor

The Philadelphia Eagles have release Offensive Guard, Evan Mathis.   Mathis was considered a top 5 Guard in the NFL and would look very nice in New York Giant blue.

A quick ride up the New Jersey Turnpike and Mathias could be practicing with the 4x Super Bowl winners as soon as Monday.   Mathis was an Eagles OTA camp hold out because of his contract.

It has been sighted that Mathis and Chip Kelly did not get along, but that is not new news. The list of star players that Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly has rubbed wrong continues to get longer.   Jackson, Maclin, McCoy and now Mathias  to name a few have all left the power-hungry cry baby, Chip Kelly.

Mathias who was voted to the Pro Bowl back-to-back seasons was to earn $5.5 million dollars this year; however, when looking at the pay scale for a NFL Pro Bowl Guard he was clearly getting under paid.    Signing Mathis would give the New York Giants a huge advantage since left tackle Will Beatty went down with a torn pectoral muscle 3 weeks ago.

Evan Mathis played tackle for 3 years at Alabama.
