It’s time for another “Manning Bowl”!

Let the shootout begin! After both Peyton Manning and Eli Manning combined to throw for 912 passing yards and 11 touchdowns last week, most are expecting the fireworks to continue, especially with both Denver and New York a work in progress when it comes to defense.

So, let’s break down what to expect in this week’s matchup with Denver.

Can Eli keep up with Peyton?

This should be a fun duel to watch. Both Mannings looked very proficient (albeit, Eli did have his share of picks) while connecting with their plethora of weapons.

With Eli spreading the wealth last week and getting 100-yard games from Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and Rueben Randle, while also getting a touchdown and 66-yards receiving from Brandon Myers, Eli has the weapons to keep up with big brother Peyton.

Offense will not be a problem for the Giants, it’s the defense we have to worry about.

Will David Wilson hold on to the ball?

If the Giants can establish a run game and grind the clock while keeping Peyton Manning off the field, that will go a long way toward helping the Giants formulate a winning plan. However, it’s easier said than done with David Wilson’s fumbling issues. Now that Tiki Barber is in the fold to help…can Barber’s sage advice help Wilson?

Will Wilson have the confidence to run the ball like he did in the preseason and without hesitation? For the Giants to succeed in this game and for the season, they need a productive and confident Wilson. It should also be interesting to see how Brandon Jacobs will be incorporated into the game plan.

How will Prince Amukamara do after suffering a concussion, and can the secondary keep up with Denver?

Simply put, the Giants need Amukamara. Well, he’s been cleared and is ready to play, but he could be in for a long day, as he may be matched up with the very dangerous Demaryius Thomas. Also, Antrel Rolle should play after experiencing a groin injury.

The Giants will need to have all hands on deck as they try to contain the explosive Denver receivers, which also include Wes Welker, Eric Decker and emerging tight end Julius Thomas. Peyton Manning will look to exploit the mismatches, and the Giants’ secondary will most certainly have their hands full.

Pass rush has to be at its best

For the Giants to have a shot in this game, they have to get pressure up front and get in Peyton Manning’s face. They have to disrupt his rhythm, and not let him get comfortable in the pocket. Safe to say, Jason Pierre-Paul and Justin Tuck better come with their A-games. If not, it could be a long day at MetLife Stadium.

Turnover ratio:

Last week the Giants had six turnovers to the Cowboys one, and yet the Giants remained in the game til the end. That can’t happen this week if the Giants have any ideas of winning. Ball security and aggressive defensive packages should be in the game plan. Whoever has the edge in the turnover margin, could have a leg up in this game.
