Introduction: The 2020 NFL draft ended Saturday evening and already the New York Giants allow with every other team were hard at work burning the phone lines looking to sign a handful of talented UDFA players who slipped through the cracks in the draft. This is. Below are the UDFA signings by the Giants within the past 24 hours:
- Kyle Murphy (OL) Rhode Island-6’3/316: Murphy played multiple positions along the line providing the versatility that arguably going to be the deepest UDFA pool in recent years as many prospects over looked in this year’s draft would have more than likely been selected in any other year made him a solid selection. Center will probably be his position to compete for a roster spot.
- Javon Leake (RB) Maryland-6’0/215: Leake was a solid contributor playing alongside Anthony MacFarland at Maryland. Leake was also a standout on specials teams in college; which could help his cause in making the roster.
- Rysen John (WR) Simon Fraser British Columbia-6’7/237: John instantly becomes the tallest receiver on the roster. John only played in 23 games and compiled 73 receptions for 1,061 yards and 12 touchdowns.
- Derrick Dillon (WR) LSU-5’11/175: Dillon saw limited action for the Tigers, but displayed great athletic ability and ran a 4.29 40 yard dash.
- Dana Levine (OLB) Temple-6’4/235: Levine was a steady player for Temple compiling 5.5 sacks with 11 tackles for loss in 12 games.
- Niko Lalos (EDGE) Dartmouth-6’5/270: Lalos was 1st team All-Ivy league honors with 5.5 sacks in 2019.
- Kyle Markway (TE) South Carolina-6’4/250: Markway was a very productive and versatile player for the Game Cocks and can block as well.
- Austin Mack (WR) Ohio State-6’1/210: Mack saw limited action due to injuries, but when healthy is a very physical presence and catches the ball well in traffic.
- Christian Angulo (CB) Hampton-6’2/195: Angulo is an active CB who plays aggressive and initiates contact.
- Binjimen Victor (WR) Ohio State-6’4/199: Victor saw limited action, but made the best of it 35 receptions for 573 yards and six touchdowns.
- Case Cookus (QB) Northern Arizona-6’4/215: Cookus compiled 4,114 yards with 31 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions over a 12 game season.
- Malcolm Elmore (CB) Central Methodist-5’11/185: Elmore is a solid slot corner who plays hard and is willing to defend the run. Elmore also contributed in special teams for Central Methodist.
Final Thoughts: The Giants signed 12 UDFA and could ink a few more after this article has been released and it appears they might have a couple of solid prospects that could go deep into training camp and/or lobby for a roster spot or at the very least; be added onto the practice squad.
