Daniel Jones is back. However, the Giants have followed their 4 game winning streak with 3 straight losses. Sunday in Baltimore started off in ugly fashion and it didn’t get better. The Ravens dominated Big Blue from the opening kickoff; starting with a 14-0 first-quarter lead and ending with a final score of 27-13.

The game was never that close though as the Giants were out-gained in total yards 432 to 269, lost time of possession 35 minutes to 25, and got beaten up on third downs (Converted 1-10 while Baltimore was 8-11); Offensive Coordinator returned from Covid, but Jason Garrett and Daniel Jones showed more of the same, unfortunately.

Danny’s Digits:

Jones went 24 for 41 for 252 yards. He added a rush for 3 yards but you never saw him use his legs as the weapon, as he did earlier this season, prior to injuring his hamstring  -1 touchdown, no turnovers

Danny’s Dimes, Danny’s Crimes, and overall evaluation:

Jones looked comfortable and despite the results, I actually liked the way he handled himself in this one. 13 points is never going to get a good grade, but he played a clean game and didn’t turn the ball over even while getting sacked 6 times.

The offensive line was overwhelmed by a good defense and it didn’t help that the Giants were down early in the game.  The Ravens are dangerous when playing with a lead and it showed.

Jones stood in there with his toughness and made a few throws that you had to love: The best pass was in the 4th quarter with about 5 minutes left. The Gmen were at midfield down 2 touchdowns and it was their last push; He lofted a touch pass down the left sideline to Darius Slayton, the ball placed in the only spot to allow the wideout to make a play. Slayton and making a play don’t go together as of recently. The 2nd year receiver had 8 targets and only reeled in 2 catches.  These are the types of tight-window throws DJ shows us and it leads us to believe that with capable wideouts he can be productive.

As long as he continues playing clean, mistake-free football, the plays will be there to be made. I can’t wait to see what this kid does with some real weapons.

Jones and Shepard seem to have a nice connection. 9 rec | 77 yards | 1 TD. Shepard is the only receiver that is reliable when he is healthy. What Jones has now is not NFL caliber quality.
