Eli Manning was 26-45 for 250 yards, a TD and 2 interceptions in the Giants first game of the season at MetLife.  With a Buffalo victory, the Bills sent The Big Blue nation into “Start Daniel Jones already” mode.

The Giants fall to 0-2 for the 6th time in 7 seasons and 2nd year in a row.  Unfortunately, Giants fans are all too used to watching embarrassing performances.

THE GOOD:

The Giants are a step closer to having Daniel Jones start which gets him the valuable game experience to accelerate his learning curve

The Giants offense scored on their opening possession for the 2nd straight week. One would guess the Giants are easy to figure out after that as the Cowboys and Bill basically shut them down. Although starting 1-7, Eli had a string in the 2nd-3rd quarters where he was 11-15 and he was on the money. He was throwing to players he hadn’t really worked with much in camp or pre-season.

Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard were out and Cody Latimer was sidelined with a concussion; The likes of Bennie Fowler, TJ Jones, and Russell Shepard were his go-to receivers.  The defense clearly keyed on Evan Engram (8 targets, 6 catches).

Eli’s best ball may have been the one down the right sideline that Fowler couldn’t hang onto; He dropped it right between the corner and safety

THE BAD:

Two interceptions and batted down passes.

Eli’s inability to do more with less is prevalent; which he had a knack for in his prime. They simply aren’t scoring enough points. Role players simply aren’t enough to win games.

THE UGLY:

3rd down efficiency for the offense (3-12). The predictable screen passes are terrible. I firmly believe Eli Manning is the worst screen pass QB in the history of the league.

Eli isn’t the reason this team is 0-2, but it’s almost time.  If the team is out of contention, and show they can’t compete for another week or two then starting Daniel Jones is the right move for the franchise.  Let’s get him valuable game experience and at least have something to look forward to.

The next two weeks are at Tampa and then home against the Skins.  If the Giants lose in Tampa to move to 0-3, and they are showing the same level of ineptitude against the Redskins, the chants at MetLife will be the voice of reason: We want DJ.
