Giants Update: Monday Morning Manning : Week #17

By: Marco Imperati

One of the weirdest, roller coaster seasons finally comes to a conclusion. The Giants lost their final game to the Philadelphia Eagles 35-30, at home, in what ended up being Tom Coughlin’s final game as head coach and finished the season again with a 6-10 record. Amidst the close games and missing out on an opportunity to win the NFC East in a year where the division was at an all-time worst, the Giants just could not muster enough, mostly on defense, to maintain the lead. Tom Coughlin “stepped down” and now leaves a huge void at head coach.

The stability that once existed between owner, general manager, head coach, and suddenly aging quarterback has softened. At 35 years old, Eli Manning finished a great statistical season with 4,436 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Going forward, Eli has proven that not only can he learn a new offense, it would be best to keep him in this west coast style offense.

Names have been rumored between Doug Marone, Adam Gase, and Teryl Austin. The Giants have held internal interviews with DC Steve Spagnuolo and the likely favorite, offensive coordinator Ben Mcadoo.

Up next: Unfortunately, there is no next game for this 2015 Giants team. This weekend, the NFL playoffs begin and the Giants once again are on the outside looking in. At times, this was a very likable group. It was really easy to cheer for players like Dwayne Harris, Erreck Flowers, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, just to name a few. Odell Beckham Jr. once again finished the season with jaw-dropping numbers and ability that only the sky could limit.

However, maturity will be a key factor on OBJ next season and beyond. Going forward, those four players will be building blocks for the new coach. Here’s hoping that whomever becomes the 17th Head Coach in the history of the New York Giants will be here for 12 more years and carry himself just as well as Tom Coughlin did. To coach, thank you for reestablishing New York Giants pride.

Besides fixing Tiki Barber’s fumbling problem, handling the New York/New Jersey media/pressure as well as anyone in NY sports, you also won out in two amazing Super Bowl runs. Those Lombardi trophies and your legacy will live on forever.

This is the beginning of a new day, God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is important because I’m exchanging a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in it’s place something I have traded for it. I want it to be gain; not loss, good, not evil; success not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for it.
