Tight End Brandon Myers could have himself a huge year with Eli Manning throwing him the ball.

While Brandon Myers won’t be confused for being the best blocker in the league, Myers does have the requisite tools to be an elite pass-catching tight end in the NFL.  As it is, the New York Giants just might have found a gem in Myers.

Last year with the Raiders, Myers had himself a very quiet, but effective year, corralling 79 receptions (on 105 targets) for 806 yards and four touchdowns.

Now equipped with a stud quarterback in Eli Manning to work off of, Myers is set to take the next step in his game. Myers goes from an inconsistent offense in Oakland to one of the more polished offenses in the game in the Giants.

Again, the 27 tear old tight end is not an elite-level blocker, and that’s where having Bear Pascoe still on the roster comes in handy, as Pascoe will be in packages that call for more blocking. Myers will not remind anyone of Jeremy Shockey or Mark Bavaro, but Myers is an athletic tight end who should work well with Manning nonetheless.

Tight End Brandon Myers doesn’t really compare well to other great Giants’ tight ends of year’s past, as he is a bit undersized for his position.  Myers, who is 6’3”, 256, is more of playmaker than anything else. Myers runs great routes and has a knack for getting open in key spots.

Myers has proven to be a pass-catching magnet in his time in Oakland, having recorded 111 receptions on 154 targets in three years in Oakland. If you ever watched a Raiders’ game, you would be astonished at how often Myers gets open and catches practically everything in sight.

With Victor Cruz now in the fold and Hakeem Nicks expected back for training camp, as well as expected growth from second-year receiver Rueben Randle, the addition of Myers could make the Giants’ pass offense a very dangerous unit.

Don’t be surprised if Myers has himself a Pro Bowl-caliber year. Yeah, he can be that good–especially with Manning getting him the ball.
