Lazy journalism 101.  I am not sure who wrote the terrible piece about the Giants on PFT but it’s flat-out embarrassing.   Doesn’t anyone take pride in their work?

PFT published this about the Giants and Eli Manning not signing a new deal, “It’s fair to say the Giants don’t have a very good supporting cast.  Sure, they have Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham.  Beyond that, what do they really have in the backfield, at tight end, at offensive line, and on defense”.

For starters, Rueben Randle might be one of the better No.3 receivers in the NFL who broke out last year in Cruz’s absence with 71 receptions for 938 yards.  He’s 24 years old and averaged 13 yards a catch.

The offensive line?   Young 1st and 2nd round picks surround Eli Manning and is more than most teams have.  Justin Pugh is a No.1 pick, and so is Ereck Flowers.  Center Weston Richburg who has pro-bowl ability is a second-round pick and stepped in and played guard as a rookie in 2014.

And by the way… Will Beatty another second round pick who is 30 years old was the #1 Offensive Tackle as ranked by Pro Football Focus in 2014 until week 7.  Beatty finished as PFF’s 11th best Overall Left Tackle.  Why did Beatty have a rebound year…Richburg was lined up next to him with Snee like qualities.

Do we even need to discuss the love the NFL has for Jonathan Hankins?  Hankins drafted to be a run stuffing machine at 6′ 2″ 320 lbs, surprisingly showed the NFL in 2014 that he is not one-dimensional.  The big man recorded  7 sacks, 6 QB hits and 21 hurries exceeding all expectations.   He was named to Pro Football Focus’ AllPro Team at Defensive Tackle.

Devon Kennard might be one the best kept secrets last year and this player is about to blow up.  I won’t bore you with the 1 tackle he missed all season and the 38.0 Combined Tackling Efficiency, which ranked him but third in the league among 4-3 OLBs.

Supporting Cast:  Prince Amukamara and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are top-level corner backs and one Landon Collins has his entire career to make PFT look stupid.

I’ll would also put money down to see Andre Williams, Owa Odighizuwa, Dwayne Harris, Robert Ayers and Jon Beason any day.  Not flashy?  The Giants have a knack for making lunch pail guys, Super Bowl winners…just ask Chase Blackburn.

As I highlight a few players, I might remind PFT that Shane Vereen who should have been the Super Bowl XLIX MVP no longer plays for the Patriots.
