Introduction: This is part 8 of 10 in a series of player spotlights and in the 2018 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected RB Saquan Barkley as the 2nd overall pick. To make Barkley’s able to have the opportunity to succeed, the Giants then drafted OG Will Hernandez with their 2nd pick in the draft. Hernandez responded with a solid rookie season earning him a spot on the 2018 all-rookie offensive team.  In 2019, Hernandez has a setup back in his performance and is eager to return to his rookie form in 2020. All the intangibles are in place for Hernandez to be a solid offensive guard in the NFL as he has the toughness, work ethic and the willingness to work harder to improve.

New offensive lines coach Marc Colombo has a solid background in grooming offensive linemen into Pro Bowlers with this time in Dallas (Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin). The Giants are banking on Colombo to work his magic with Hernandez in 2020 and beyond to give the Giants a much needed shot in the arm on the offensive line.

Final Thoughts: I believe 2020 will be the turning point for Will Hernandez career as this will be his first steps of becoming  a future Pro Bowler and a mainstay along the Giants offensive line for years to come. One of the keys to the New York Giants success during their Super Bowl years was the play of the offensive line in all four Super Bowl victories. Controlling the line of scrimmage and sustaining long drives will breakdown any defensive teams will. Will Hernandez is ready to take that next step and be among the best of the best for the Giants at the offensive guard position.
