When the Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl in 2013 most New York Giants fan were excited to hear that General Manager Jerry Reese acquired corner-back Walter Thurmond in Free Agency.

One might ask why the Seahawks brass would want to lose a vital part of their “Legion of Boom” defense.   Thurmond was penciled in as the starting nickel corner and was awarded a 3 million dollar, 1 year contract.  Thurmond had a history of injuries so Thurmond jumped at the 3 million dollars and a chance to play in New York.

According to sources around the league Thurmond was a great signing for the Giants due to his upside.   He was hurt and put on injured reserve by the second game of the season and was never heard from again.

A year later the Giants need to look very hard at resigning the injury prone Thurmond.   Enclosed are his stats.  You be the judge.  I am not sure what all the hype is about.  These numbers are very pedestrian.   Thurmond has already went on record stating he would like to resign with the Giants, yet it must be for the right cost.   For a guy with 5 years in the league, he has 88 tackles and 1 interception.  He is only worth resigning at the veteran minimum($570,000).
